Team Bio

Walpole Swim Team is a long standing and very successful program.  Coach Cheryl Cavanaugh, formally Cheryl Mealey, has headed up the team since 1974.  The summer program is based in the Walpole Center pool and winter at the Blue Hills Regional School in Canton.

Our program is an age group team participating in the Summer Suburban & Winter Suburban Leagues.  Boys and girls between the ages of 3 & 18yrs who can follow directions and put their face in the water are eligible to join.

Coaches Creed

Swimming is the only sport that teaches you survival skills that you will take with you the rest of your life. All the coaches take pride in teaching non-swimmers and watching them develop into swimmers.  But we also want to build character, self-esteem, sportsmanship, determination, camaraderie and ever lasting friendships.

Assistant Coach & swimmer for many years in Norwood, Katie joined WST in the summer of 2010.

Tom Parlon

Assistant WST Coach for many years.  Tommy had swum for Walpole since he was 5.

Tommy has been assistant coach for Adirondack Club, WHS, & Blue Hills

Joe Parlon

Assistant WST Coach for several years before moving to LA.  Joe also swam with WST since he was about 5 and was on the Walpole High boys swim team (way back when).  Joe is back with us for the 2010 winter season.
